Nintendo has announced Miitomo, a smartphone application, which will only require a Nintendo Account for registration. The registration is slated to start on February 17. The app will be available in eight languages, namely English, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, French, and Russian in 16 countries including the US, Canada, UK, Europe, Australia, and many more.

Miitomo will provide social services, and make use of Mii — Nintendo's fictional character which is a unique representation of their profile, independent of the games they play. The Mii Photo feature will allow you to create a variety of images and share them on social media.

The announcement doesn't come as a surprise though, as Sony and Microsoft have already launched similar apps that sync all functions and perform certain actions across various devices. What do you think will come out of this new smartphone app by Nintendo? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
